Island Christian Church

Joe has been a member of HIA since 1991, and a board member since 1992, taking a brief hiatus from 1997-99. During his time, he has served as president (95-97), and has chaired several committees, including Business Development. Under the BDC, two other committees were formed, the Education and International Trade committees, as well as initiatives such as the Business Achievement Awards and the Front-Line Team.

Joe was the cofounder of Island-Metro Publications, a leading publisher of economic development and tourism magazines and resources, primarily serving the Long Island region. The company was acquired by Newsday in 2004, where Joe remained in the job of publisher of the newly formed Island Publications, their magazine publishing division.

In 2008, Joe joined the staff as outreach pastor for Island Christian Church. In that role, he is responsible for overall community outreach for the church, including marketing and new member development.

Because of his business background, he also serves as director of workplace ministry, at the church, which is a resource to business people, in helping them achieve a stronger sense of purpose and balance in their work and lives overall, while enouraging the highest standard of excellence. Joe sees a strong connection with the work he does at the church and his involvement with the business community.

Joe also helped in the planning and implementation of two additional campuses of Island Christian—one in Holtsville, and the other in the historic village of Port Jefferson.
