Katherine M. Fritz is President and Chief Executive Officer of Long Island Cares, Inc. – The Harry Chapin Regional Food Bank. She brings more than three decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, development, and communications, with a career dedicated to connecting donors, partners, and communities to causes that create lasting impact.
Prior to becoming President and CEO, Katherine served as Vice President for Development and Communications at Long Island Cares, joining the organization just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. In that role, she helped strengthen awareness, philanthropic engagement, and support for the organization’s mission to address food insecurity across Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Earlier in her career, she held senior development roles with organizations including the American Cancer Society, the Guide Dog Foundation, and America’s VetDogs, managing national fundraising strategies and multi-million-dollar budgets.
As President and CEO, Katherine is leading Long Island Cares into its next chapter, reinforcing its role as both a critical safety net and a driver of long-term systems change. She is committed to collaboration, equity, and operational resilience, while advancing the organization’s vision of a hunger-free Long Island. Katherine holds a bachelor’s degree from Long Island University at Southampton and is pursuing a master’s degree in human services leadership.
