As the new Executive Vice President and leader of Omnicon, I am pleased to announce that effective October 17, 2017, the founder and owner of The Omnicon Group, Inc. (“Omnicon”) has reached an agreement to sell the business to Spectris plc. Spectris, a well-respected and long-established supplier of productivity-enhancing instrumentation and controls, is headquartered and listed in the UK; it has annual revenues of over $1.7 billion, and employs approximately 9,000 people in more than 30 countries.
Omnicon will be integrated with HBM Prenscia, an engineering software and service business within the Spectris’ Test and Measurement segment, which is a global leader in providing adjacent technology and software products for reliability, durability and performance analyses (nCode and ReliaSoft brands). HBM Prenscia has operations in Michigan, Arizona, Mississippi, Sheffield (UK), Warsaw (Poland), Paris (France), Singapore, India and Darmstadt (Germany). Its global customer base, together with Spectris’ large global footprint, spans a diverse range of end-user markets. HBM Prenscia employs over 180 people.
We believe that the combined organization will support more comprehensive solutions and enhance the value we can offer by:
- Providing more complete understanding, analysis, and prediction of component, system and asset reliability performance;
- Delivering integrated reliability engineering solutions sought by many customers;
- Providing solutions on a global scale coupled with the financial stability provided by Spectris’ ownership and the associated investment for growth;
- Providing increased capabilities to meet the challenges of the growing markets for autonomous equipment and vehicles, asset health monitoring and predictive analytics.
Omnicon will become part of HBM Prenscia Solutions within HBM Prenscia. HBM Prenscia is a strategic operating division of HBM (with the ultimate parent company being Spectris plc).
This is a strategic move for Omnicon because the leadership team at HBM Prenscia has a strong interest in developing and investing in Omnicon’s technology and its highly talented workforce. We believe there is a strong cultural fit between Omnicon and HBM Prenscia’s values and operating principles. From a day to day perspective no significant changes are expected.
As a valued customer of Omnicon, we would like to assure you that Omnicon and HBM Prenscia will be working together to ensure a smooth and professional transition. This is an exciting time for Omnicon and HBM Prenscia as combining two successful organizations will allow us to leverage new resources to further grow our offering and add even more value to our clients and customers.
If you have any questions about this change, please do not hesitate to contact me.
