INFO: H I A President Terri Alessi-Miceli and H I A Board Member & President GSE Dynamics, Inc. Anne Shybunko will join a roundtable hosted by U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer to discuss the impact on Long Island businesses of short term hiring measures, including a relief on payroll tax for certain employees hired in 2010. U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer (D-New York) and Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) recently unveiled The Hire Now Tax Cut Act of 2010 that would grant any private-sector employer that hires a worker who had been unemployed for at least 60 days to not have to pay the employer’s 6.2 percent share of the Social Security payroll tax on that employee for the remainder of 2010.
QUOTE: “The most important measure to help spur the economy is job creation. Senator Schumer’s proposed legislation can offer great relief to employers and workers who have been unemployed for a long time. The H I A and local businesses, working together with local, state and federal representatives, can provide the resources to help during this economic crisis.” – Terri Alessi-Miceli, President, HIA
