HIA-LI Recognizes Business Excellence in a Tough Economy
On September 13th the Crest Hollow Country Club will open its doors from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm to the HIA-LI 17th Annual Business Achievement Awards Gala. Long Island companies are some of the best in the world! This event draws over 400 business leaders from all across the Island making it one of the best places to do business and build relationships. The Keynote Speaker will discuss economic initiatives and what it takes to be a great company on Long Island.
The Business Achievement Awards are given to a Large Business (100 or more employees), Small Business (less than 100 employees), Rookie of the Year (companies that have been operating less than five years) and a Not-for-Profit Organization.
The award criteria is a) positive employer/employee relations, b) commitment to the growth or betterment of the Long Island business community and c) the three to five year vision for the company's future. Criteria also includes a) recent outstanding accomplishments, b) technical innovation or innovative processes, c) expansion into new markets and d) industry leadership.
The 2010 Large Business Achievement Award Winner was The Tiffen Company and Finalists were Dvirka & Bartilucci Consulting Engineers, Grassi & Co, CPA’s and Suffolk County National Bank.
The Small Business Achievement Award Winner was Irwin Contracting Inc. and Finalists were Biscotti, Toback & Co., CPA’s & PC, GreenLogic Energy and Long Island Fiber Exchange (LIFE).
The Not-For-Profit Achievement Award Winner was Long Island Cares, Inc. and Finalists were Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc., Jefferson’s Ferry Lifecare Retirement and YMCA of Long Island, Inc.
The Rookie of the Year Award winner was Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP and Finalists were Transparent Health Network and Vetter Environmental Sciences
“The business climate today is uncertain," said Terri Alessi – Miceli, President of the HIA-LI. “This is a way of recognizing companies that have successfully met competitive challenges, have had a significant community impact, and have made commitments to growth on Long Island.”
