Anne D. Shybunko-Moore graduated from Franklin Marshall College with a BA in Biology and went on to receive her BS and Masters in Physical Therapy from the University of Maryland with a concentration in Neurology and Geriatrics. She became Director of Rehabilitation at a multi-level geriatric care facility in Maryland, where she handled the business aspects of the practice. Anne then made a life changing decision to leave the medical field and enter the manufacturing world back in New York. She is now President and Owner of GSE Dynamics Inc. in Hauppauge. GSE was founded by Anne’s father, Daniel Shybunko in 1971. In 2003, GSE expanded their capabilities by establishing a composite aircraft manufacturing company located in Georgia, GSE Southern Composites. In 2005, GSE negotiated a deal with General Dynamics enabling them to establish another local division in Hauppauge, GSE Composites, with a specialty in fiberglass and composite products to manufacture parts specifically for the US Navy submarines. In December of 2005, GSE was awarded a $14 million dollar contract to continue manufacturing mast fairings through 2011, and has proven itself as an industry leader. GSE continues to provide complex assemblies, advanced composites technology, metal fabrication and support processes for the DOD and other aerospace and defense customers. The Defense Supply Center recognized GSE for 4 consecutive years (2003 thru 2006), receiving awards for providing the government with the “best value” - high quality parts with on-time delivery. In January 2007, Shybunko-Moore represented GSE when the Defense Logistics Agency awarded her company the prestigious Outstanding Readiness Support award for woman owned business. This award is presented to industry partners that have provided extraordinary customer support, services, or products directly related to an immediate DLA requirement or crisis situation. Anne is a member of the Board of Directors at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, utilizing her medical and business background. In June 2006, Anne completed a two-year term as President of Long Island’s National Association of Women Business Owners, and currently sits on the Board of Directors focusing on: growing a diverse membership, serving as a resource to the business community, and expanding their presence in community outreach. In 2005, Anne accepted a position on Congressman Steve Israel’s Small Business Advisory Council and continues to work closely with him on small business issues related to the Defense industry. She is an advocate for small businesses on Long Island, as well as an advocate for the presence of women in business and manufacturing. Anne’s recent efforts have been focused on manufacturing revitalization and the need to educate Long Islanders that manufacturing still has a strong presence and we need to look for ways to train our young Long Islanders to fill the positions of our aging workforce. In March of 2008, Suffolk Community College Foundation recognized Anne’s efforts and presented her with the Manufacturing Workforce Leadership Award for Excellence. She is a member of Long Island Forum for Technology, the Long Island Association, and the Hauppauge Industrial Association. As a graduate of The Stony Brook School, she also serves on the school’s Alumni Leadership Committee. Anne was awarded the 2003 Top Woman Business Owner award from NAWBO/LI. In 2005 she was named one of Long Island’s Top 50 Women. In 2006 she was named one of Long Island’s 40 Rising Stars Under the age of 40. She also received recognition when she was awarded the 2006 ExecuLeadership Award for Business Leadership. In October 2006, Shybunko-Moore was named as one of the March of Dimes Women of Distinction. Long Island Women’s Agenda named her as the 2007 Business Advocate of the year, recognized for efforts in the small business arena. The Hauppauge Industrial Association honored GSE at their annual golf tournament in October 2007 recognizing their contribution and longtime membership to the organization and their role in the business community. Anne is married to Jamie Moore, Director of Organization Development at CA (formerly Computer Associates). Jamie and Anne support each other in their careers and home life as they raise their 4 sons (ages 7 yrs, 5 yrs, 4 yrs, and 7 months). Anne focuses on the importance of family and career balance, and serves as an example that women can be successful at both.
